Left on Read is Wichita’s independent Black-owned bookstore and the only Black-owned bookstore in Kansas, offering a welcoming space where readers can discover stories, ideas, and perspectives that reflect the richness of Black experiences and the wider community. Located at Revolutsia in Wichita, the bookstore’s mission is to amplify representation, cultivate perspective, and empower community. Its thoughtfully curated selection centers Black authors and stories while including fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, banned titles, and unique gifts, giving customers meaningful options for personal reading, family discovery, thoughtful gifting, and continued learning. More than a place to browse and purchase books, Left on Read creates opportunities for connection through author events, book clubs, workshops, and community gatherings. The space is also available for private rentals, making it a flexible setting for bringing people together around books, conversation, and shared interests. Left on Read is home to The Millennial Black Professor® and TMBP Media, adding to its distinct identity as “A LIT experience for the culture.™” Customers can enjoy on-site services or choose delivery, with credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments accepted for added convenience. The store is a fantastic quant bookstore with black authors at the forefront, which is hard to find in Wichita. The staff is so helpful and the selection is easy to navigate. So happy to find a place like this in the ICT. Will be back to buy more on the near future.
It's a cute, boutique style bookstore that features African American authors and artists. The owner, Tasha, is a nice lady, very helpful. My only complaint is the difficulty in finding the store and I was unsure about the parking. Those are minor inconveniences for the joy of an exclusive bookstore. Today was my first visit but definitely not my last! …
Great little bookstore with wonderful and friendly owners! I stopped in on my way through town and enjoyed chatting with them and their selection of books!
There's a great selection of different genres. I got a sci-fi/dystopian book and a general fiction book. I was tempted to buy about five more books, but I had to exercise self-control. Dr. Tasha was extremely welcoming and helpful. :)
This is such an amazing bookstore! Its has everything you need and more! The space is beautiful and the service is phenomenal.

Not only do I love the selection of books but it is such a comforting atmosphere. The owner, Latasha has such a beautiful spirit as well. I definitely recommend people come out and check out the book selection and beautiful mural.
Love the ambiance and the many different options from books, candles, stationery, merch and more. Whenever I’m need a gift, I think of Left on Read first. I’m proud to spend money with this small business and appreciate the owner’s thoughtfulness in helping me to package things together.
Stopped by as I explored the neighborhood around my hotel this past weekend. I’ll make a point of visiting this bookstore any time I’m in Wichita. It’s tiny, cozy, and has a fantastic selection. Left On Read just moved to it's new home at 2721 E Central. Left On Read is a lovely bookstore housed in a little stone cottage with a loft and beautiful fireplace. Tasha and Corinthian are charming hosts!
